Meet Roamer

Meet Roamer. Roamer is a Quadraped Dog that uses a Windows 8.1 tablet for a brain and has a Logitec HD WebCam for a head. Roamer head is attached to a Pan/Tilt bracket. Servos: 8x MG-996R for legs and 2x S90 for Head Servos controlled using the Veyron Servo Controller I will be posting build pictures and videos of Roamer walking and detecting/tracking objects.

I recently added rubber to the ends of Roamers legs.

Here is a short video of Roamer taking his first steps.

Nice work JeffRo! Looking forward to seeing this guy run around.I think this would be a better use of my servos than the ROFI redeisgn, and I have a couple Windows tablets to work with too. Plus, I need a pet here. Yep, I'm going to follow this closely!

Thanks Roxanna. The walking gait is the most difficult of the whole project. The MG-996R servos are plently strong enough to handle the weight of the tablet when they work together.

When finished will be using a few methods for tracking and navigation.

Will be using the Ultrasonic distance sensor for general navigation.

Will be using the Webcam for facial detection and Objection recognition.

Will be using a combination of compus and GPS for directional navigation via voice commands.

The idea is that using the compass and GPS you could have a prerecorded place in the house and then via voice you tell go to the kitchen and it would then go to that loaction.
