One of my school groups did a Full Contact Line Following Comp recently. It was a fun time. The goal is to be the fastest robot on the line. If you get caught from behind, your robot is eliminated.

Love the idea of eliminating the robots that are getting caught. How do you make them go faster? Shorter interval between sensor input and movement?

All the robots are the same. But the kids adjust the sensors where needed. So some robots work better than others depending on who paid attention during my explanation. Also I allow them to fail if they don't make an effort. So there's always learning going on even when we are just playing a simple game.

Our next comp will be an autonomous navigation based game. I'm going to have them dead-reckon from the classroom, to the hallway, past another class room, then turn down another hallway, to the drinking fountain as fast and accurate as possible. I believe they will enjoy the challenge as its a lot harder than they realize that it will be.

I'll share the site link with the kids. Maybe a few will join and build stuff once they see their school comp video's on here.
