RetroPi Gameboy (In progress)

I have been working on this project for a while now, but finally got to printing some of the parts I have designed.

The goal is to make a portable game console from a Raspberry Pi 3 that will have battery power, built-in charger, wifi, audio, possibility for TV connection and a second controller. It will be able to emulate most old game consoles like NES, SNES, SEGA and so on using RetroPi.

It will use a car rear mirror screen, a snes knock-off controller and a small 8ohm speaker with an amplifier.

I first did a test with a TFT screen for the Raspberry Pi but this screen used the GPIO pins for video and this made the input lag WAY too high.

Most of the time so far has been spent designing the case from scratch. I wanted it all to be custom, so it's all made from scratch in Inventor. The front cover has similar internals as the SNES controller to fit all the buttons except shoulder buttons. I have not yet decided how to fix these. Might just be small push buttons on the back cover.

I then got a car rear mirror screen that I connected to the video out on the Raspberry Pi. This screen gave me the image I wanted without input lag.

I

Most of the parts ready for assembly.

Printing the bottom case.

Printing the front case.

Front case after one coat of Filler Primer. I will finish all 3D printed parts with Filler Primer and sanding to hide the fact that they are printed.

Wow, this is really cool Fredrik! Quite a project that you have designed, and as usual with all details figured in. I really like the use of the auto video screen. I like that you are post print finishing the case, should look perfect. Good job!

Great writeup too, and the pictures are amazing quality
